Monday morning, March 7th,
we said our goodbyes at Kevin's house
then off we went to the MTC !
The first thing we did was go
into the main building
where they put our Missionary badges
on us and told us how to wear them.
Then we received a folder full
of instructions and a
CHECK LIST !
We drove around to the side of the building
where there were several
young missionaries waiting to help
us with our luggage.
They took us to our room and wished us
good luck !
Our room was in the Jacob Hamblin Building ....
Room 321 in the West Wing
Living Space ....
Study and closet space
We left our things and continued on
with our check list.
MTC Book Store, where we received all
our "lesson Material"
(for a minimal cost)
In General Services we paid for our
room and meals
(for a larger cost)
Then we had lunch !
In the Afternoon we had a meeting for all the
new missionaries.
We learned that this was the 2nd largest
group of Senior Missionaries to
every enter the MTC at one time.
There were 123 total with
60 couples and 3 single sisters.
In our group there were 15 couples
all going to Nauvoo !
We took the traditional
"Map" picture
On Tuesday after our General Meeting we
found our classroom and began
We even had homework!
We had two teachers ....

Our week was a bit stressful with a lot of
roll playing both between
couples and also with Actors they brought in.
(now that was stressful)
We learned A LOT and got a little bit
more comfortable in our
roll-play situations as we learned
how to get to know people and what kinds
of questions to ask.
After a week of training we were ready for a
little break and we got it!
We didn't have any classes or meetings on
Saturday so we drove down to
Kevin's and spent some time with them.
The kids flew their kites
on this very windy day
and jumped on the trampoline
Debbi came down for a while
visiting with us and
playing with the kids
We Stayed through the afternoon then
returned to the MTC for dinner.
Sunday we went to church with some
VERY YOUNG LOOKING
missionaries...Steve even commented
when we walked in that wasn't it nice
they invited some deacons to
come and pass the sacrament .... but then
we realized those weren't deacons ....
they were missionaries !
On Monday we had a
FIELD TRIP !
We drove up to SLC and had some
Visitor's Center Training
The Trees were still bare, but ....
The flower beds were beginning
to look very spring-like !
Back at the MTC we began our
Nauvoo Training.
Linda was asked to play piano for the opening
hymn, Called to Serve.
It was a rousing chorus that caused
passer by's to stop and listen.
Elder and Sister Morgan would be our
instructors on our last two days
at the MTC
We had assigned seats ...
Bottled Water and Treats !
This is one of the couples that will be
serving with us in Nauvoo
The Hutchinson's from Evenston Wyoming.
They are long time friends with our
neighbors, the Sibbett's, in Star.
We had another couple in our group,
the Aina's, from
Forest Grove Oregon that we found
out were long time friends with
our dear friends
the Rau's, from Bend.
Within the church it really is a Small World.
This is our last day in the MTC
We finished class early and were on the
road by about 3 p.m.
