February 2022

Friday 2/4

Today began the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing China

Feb 4 - Feb 20

It is interesting that Their theme is Peace & Unity.  It is a nice thought, but sadly, that is not what is going on in the world today.  This giant snowflake, bearing the names of all the countries participating in the Olympics, is the Olympic Cauldron.  It holds the tiniest flame in the history of the Olympics.  They are calling it the "green" cauldron because it will not use as much fuel as the impressive, large cauldron flames used in the past. From diplomatic boycotts (including the USA) to controversial flame bearers, there is definitely a political overtone to these games.

We have chosen to support the athletes (not the host country) that have given their all to be able to compete in the Olympics.  We will be watching and cheering them on !

Saturday 2/5

Today we spent some time in Boise shopping and visiting family.

We also used part of one of  the gift cards we got for Christmas - YUM

Tuesday 2/8

It is "Lucky Number Tuesday" at Bi-Mart.  We have been members for over 40 years and this is the first time our card number has been listed as a winning number.

Our prize . . . . This digital air fryer.  We have never used one before so this will be a new experience for us.  When leaving the store a lady stopped us and said "you are going to love it!"  then shared with us some ideas of how to use it.

Wednesday 2/9

Tonight Linda got to try out our new Air Fryer

We fried chicken.  It was tender and moist and yummy !
On Sunday we tried some roast beef and it too was nice and tender, moist & yummy!

Thursday 2/10

This morning was our Stake Humanitarian Meeting.  They had lots of projects going on. From quilt tying, crocheting & sewing to journal making, tissue paper flowers & indexing.

Linda chose to tie these fleece blankets that will be given to the homeless and . . . .

Threading double drawstrings in "Days for Girls" Hygiene bags that will ultimately go to teenage girls in third world countries.

Sunday 2/21

Tonight were the Closing ceremonies for the 2022 Winter Olympics hosted by Beijing China.

It didn't take long to extinguish the tiny flame in the center of this unique Olympic Cauldron.

The final Medal count for these Olympics was . . . .

USA in 5th place overall

We enjoyed watching the Olympics this year and experiencing
"The Thrill of Victory AND the agony of defeat"
Congratulations to all the athletes . . .  Thanks for the memories!

Thursday 2/24

The Meridian Idaho Temple is just 10 minutes from our home in Star. Fact is, it is actually within our own Star Stake boundaries.

Today we invited our friend & neighbor, Elda, to join us for an endowment session. It was a good day!

Sunday 2/27

It is always fun to get together with family ! Since it is Linda's birthday tomorrow and Jen's birthday on Thursday, we decided to have a little celebration this evening.

Sienna lit the birthday candles on this yummy cheesecake, then

together, Jen & Linda blew them out !

Monday 2/28

Happy Birthday to  Linda ! 73 years ago, she entered this world.  she was blessed with a beautiful mother, talented father and a big sister (with siblings to follow). Not to mention wonderful grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins! She has been blessed with an amazing eternal companion and together they enjoy their 4 children along with their spouses and children. We are now 20 strong ! She loves her siblings and is grateful to have inherited in-laws that are now just a natural part of her family. Yes, happy birthday to Linda … she says  "I am blessed!"

These are some flowers a friend from the Ward delivered to Linda. we also had another family that brought a plate of cookies over. She received some cards, gift cards and from Steve, earrings to match her "Nauvoo Temple stone necklace".

We have had fun talking with all our kids and grandkids via text, phone, video chat & Zoom today. Thank you to all our family & friends that took a minute to think of her today.

Tonight we went to Denny's where Linda used her Happy Birthday coupon for a free grand slam meal.  As always, there was way too much food, but we enjoyed going out for dinner AND dining "IN".

It's always a great way to end the month of February as we enjoy an outpouring of birthday wishes and love. Thank you everyone ! Now we are looking forward to a new month and the
coming of SPRING !
