 Saturday 1/1

After a nice breakfast we watched . . . .

the Rose Parade. One of our favorites was the all-directors band and float.  The large band, comprised of band directors from all around the country, parted down the middle and made a pathway for their float to pass them.  They came back together, behind the float, and continued on.

Sunday 1/2

Today we were able to watch, via Zoom,

as Kevin Conferred the Aaronic Priesthood on his son, Crew, and ordained him to the office of Deacon. Weather made traveling very hazardous, so we were grateful to be able to participate via Zoom.

Saturday 1/8

This afternoon we were surprised to have an old friend knock at our front door.

Rod & Norma Kohler lived in Bend for 50 years.  They have recently moved to Meridian and, after receiving our New Year's letter, decided to drop by to see us.  We spent a few hours visiting and catching up on family, friends and lots of other things!  It was fun to be with them and we are so glad they decided to come see us.

A few weeks ago Linda started following "Nauvoo Remembered" on Facebook.  She entered a contest with them and won !

Today her prize arrived.  A hand crafted necklace.  The stone is from the original Nauvoo Temple.

Sunday 1/16

January is a busy month in the church with Priesthood and Young Women's advancements and ordinations and our family has been the recipient of many of these exciting opportunities.  

Today, Kevin's son, Connor, was called to serve as President of the Deacon's Quorum.

(note: Connor called his brother, Crew, to be his secretary)

This evening we had dinner with Matt's family. We were in charge of bringing something from our "Calendar Country", Dubai

We found a dessert recipe for "Luqaimat" or what we might call "scones" - deep fried dough balls. We "Americanized" the recipe and left the funky, middle eastern spices out of the dough.

We had a variety of toppings so we were all able to enjoyed this fun, warm, sweet dessert..

We also read about traditional games children play in Dubai.

We learned that their games are very similar to ours . . .

Today Linda added some information to 

Several years ago, as part of a project for our kids, she wrote a 1-page life sketch for each of our parents & grandparents.  She has always thought she should add them to Family Search and today she did it !

Thursday 1/20

This morning we made an appointment to do an endowment session this afternoon . . . . 

At the Meridian Idaho Temple.  It was a small session, even though the appointment calendar said the session only had 2 available seats.  After our session we did some grocery shopping at the new WinCo just down the street from the temple.

The temple was beautiful as we drove past it on our way back home in the snowy weather.

As you can see, we are still clearing snow and ice from our front yard.

Notice our neighbors across the street have no snow or ice and have a clear, dry front yard. Note to self . . . . North facing house - not so good in the winter ! !

Saturday 1/29

Today was the grand opening of a new Albertson's supermarket here in our growing town of Star Idaho.

It was several years in the making, but they finally got the job done.  It is a very beautiful store but seems a bit expensive.

It seems crazy that we have come to the end of  the first month in the year 2022.  It seems like Y2K was just a little while ago, not 22 years! Now it's on to February . . . .
