Sunday 4/1
We spent Easter Sunday with Kevin and his family
in Bountiful, Utah.
The day began with a search for Easter Baskets ....

(Shea was still sleeping)
Shea, after she woke up,
with one of her Easter Basket goodies.
once all the baskets were found ....
We enjoyed fresh baked cinnamon rolls and
General Conference talks & music.
It was a beautiful day so after
the morning session of Conference we spent a
little bit of time outside enjoying the
nice warm sunshine

and back inside ....
all the kids gathered around Daddy for a story.
Just before the afternoon session of Conference
we headed for home. We were able
to listen to that session on the
Satellite Radio and enjoyed yet another big
announcement (or two) from President Nelson.
Home/Visiting Teaching is now called
"Ministering"
and 7 new temples including
Layton, Utah - Richmond, Virginia
and one in Russia !
Wednesday 4/4
"We looked out the window and what did we see ...."
Signs in our front yard that
Spring is on the way .... YAY !
Monday 4/9
Backyard Daffodils - Bright & Cheerful
So, What do you do when ....
you have to replace the
battery in your smoke alarm that
is too high to reach with of your ladders?
You improvise and rearrange the furniture ....
Move the Kitchen table into the living room ....
Put non-skid rubber sheets on the table ....
and get ready to do one of the stupid things
you laugh at other people for trying
and away he goes ....
14 feet in the air and getting the job done !
Yay .... done !
We actually tested the set up really well
and knew it would turn out okay
but just the same Steve said to Linda as he got
ready to climb the ladder ....
"you do know the 911 phone number....right ?
Tuesday 4/10
Today we bought a "little" Rototiller
for our "little"garden spot and also ....
found this cute little Duck Set for just $20.
Friday 4/13
It is a nice day today so we have been
working outside.
We set up our little front yard fountain ....
and put that new little Rototiller ....
to work
out in our little garden spot.
Steve also continues removing moss and weeds
from all our flowerbeds and they are
looking great !
We have been enjoying the spring landscape
at our house.
Our large maple tree ....
Daffodils & Narcissus ....
Forget-me-nots ....
Raspberries and ....
Tulips, to name a few.
Friday 4/20
Yesterday we went to Bi Mart in Emmet and
bought this barrel
Today Steve got it stained ....
We also bought these little chipmunks to help
liven up the landscape
Our tulips finally bloomed and ....
they really look pretty with the pink blossoms
on our flowering plum tree
Saturday 4/21
Today is a beautiful, sunny, warm day so ....
Steve got our little backyard fountain set up
(on the barrel he stained yesterday)
He has been working very hard the last several weeks
getting our yard spruced up
It looks beautiful!
Since the birds don't use our little wooden birdhouse
He set one of our new little chipmunks on it ....
Maybe they will use it for their acorns!
Sunday 4/22 - Saturday 4/28
Today After church we left for California
to spend some time with Linda's mother.
We had dinner at Cafe Ole' in SLC
We were able to stay until Saturday. During
that time Steve did a lot to help
clean up mom's flower beds
He got her cute fountain up and running ....
mom loves to sit outside and listen to it.
Before we left on our mission to Nauvoo
Steve planted some Amaryllis bulbs around mom's yard.
Look how beautiful they are .... they look like
giant Easter Lilies !
Steve kept busy trimming and ....
weeding until the flower beds looked beautiful
and mom loved them.
One day Karen & Linda went to Home Depot and
bought some new hanging flower baskets
for mom's front porch.
They really made her porch look nice
(too bad we didn't take any pictures of them)
While shopping for the baskets they found
a beautiful gardenia plant on
a trellis ... The gardenia is mom's very
favorite flower so ....
the Snow's and the Waite's
bought if for her for mother's day.
It was covered with buds and before we left
it had at least a dozen blossoms on it and boy did it
smell wonderful !
Karen has a music school where she
teaches piano lessons.
Each spring she has a recital out in her backyard.
this year there were over 60 people in
attendance.
Saturday 4/28
We said our goodbye's this morning
and had a good laugh at Linda trying to
take this selfie.
We took a 1:15 flight out of Ontario
(Karen's son Bryan drove us)
We had some diner in the SLC Airport
then caught a 5:20 flight to Boise and got home
in time for Steve to mow the lawn.
(It really needed it and our trash is collected
early Monday morning so it had to be done)
When we left for California the trees were just
beginning to leaf out and our lilacs were
still tiny dark purple buds
but when we returned home This is what we saw ...
The tree lined street into our subdivision was
beautiful
and in our front yard, though the tulips had mostly
died away, the lilac's had taken off and ....
were in full bloom and
smelling amazing.
Our backyard maple & pear trees were fully
leafed out and ....
our gum tree (which is always last to wake up) had
little leaves on it.
Steve has placed all our little garden critters
around the yard including these
cute little bunnies.
Sunday 4/29
Today we had a special Stake Conference here in
Star, Idaho.
Our Stake President (Kenneth J. Firmage) was called
to be an Area Seventy during General Conference
a few weeks ago so they held this conference
to reorganize our Stake Presidency.
(Elder Steven E. Snow was our visiting authority)
Our Star 1st Ward Bishop, Jeff Graviet, was
called to be the new 2nd counselor ...
It looks like we will be getting a new bishopric
this next Sunday.
After conference we went to the last part of
Matt's Sacrament Meeting because
he was to be their concluding speaker.
He gave a wonderful talk on "Grace", filling up
the 6 minutes they left him.
Monday 4/30
Today Dave & Gayle picked us up and we
drove out to Marilyn & Keith's place in Parma.
We visited for a few hours,
drove to Nyssa, Oregon for some lunch
at an A & W,
then drove to Weiser, Oregon to see Dave's
son, Casey's new house and menagerie.
Among other things they have these little
baby goats ....
This one Gayle is holding was just born last week.
April has been a great month but has flown
by so quickly. We have enjoyed
visiting family and beautiful spring weather.
We look forward to a bright and warm
month of May !
