Thursday, May 7th
We got up early and caught a flight
to
Columbia, South Carolina
Linda's Uncle Walter
(her mother's brother)
met us at the airport. He and his
wife Barbara were
very gracious hosts and after 17 years
it was wonderful to see them again.
Their home is in a wooded area
surrounded by trees
We thought it was pretty funny that
everyone in the area
cover their flower beds with pine needles.
They buy bales for about $4 each.
In Bend we spent hours raking
them OUT
of our flower beds and burning them!
Before dinner Uncle Walter drove us
all around both
Columbia & Lexington
(where he lives)
among many other sites
we saw the....
State Capitol and....
the "double" dam at Murray Lake
After our "Tour" Uncle Walter & Barbara
treated us to dinner at....
FATZ where we had a yummy
Chicken Pot Pie.
After dinner Barbara went back to
the house and
Steve & Linda together with
Uncle Walter
Went to the Columbia Temple.
When we finished our session
the temple was all lit up
and Beautiful!
We spent the night at Uncle Walter's
then left early Friday morning
for Trudi's via
Columbia-Atlanta-Quad Cities Airports
It took us all day but we
finally made it to Davenport, Iowa
