Wednesday 3/4

You know Spring has sprung when . . .

You have your lawn aerated, your hyacinths are blooming, you begin doing yard work and changing the winter décor to spring/summer.

It's always so much fun when you get to change the decorations around the house.

Here are just a few things that will be around for a while. "Hello Spring" will be changed out for "Hello Summer", but the others will be around until Autumn leaves begin to fall!

We are having fun using our new range griddle.

Linda purchased two "egg rings" and we tried them out tonight . . . they worked GREAT!! French toast was a delicious egg-companion.

Sunday 3/8

Today was our Ward Conference. The theme of the conference was

"Walk With Me"

We listened as our Bishop, Stake President, and others shared beautiful messages about our relationship with the Savior and our Heavenly Father. It was a good day !!

Saturday 3/14

Tonight, we attended the wedding reception of one of our grandnephews, Kyler Ogden. He is the son our our niece, Heather & her husband Nate. The kids were married on the 6th in the St. George, Utah temple.

We had a good time visiting with  lots of the Fuller family and enjoying all the festivities. 

It was obvious that these two are going to have an exciting life together. In addition to greeting all their guests, they played a couple of fun games, Kate threw the Bridal Bouquet, They did a beautiful tribute to their parents then had a nice slow dance with them. After that, there was more dancing with lots of very energetic, and a little bit crazy, guests. Even the little toddlers joined in the fun!

On the way home we enjoyed seeing this beautiful Sunset.

 It started out as just a pretty pink sky, but soon the hand of mother nature turned into this amazing picture.

Tuesday 3/17

Yesterday, Steve bought a new, battery powered, string trimmer

Today, he assembled it and took it outside for a test drive. It is a Ryobi so he can use the batteries that he already has. Quite by accident, we discovered this trimmer was on clearance, for 1/2 price, at the Nampa Home Depot.

 Gotta love those "surprise" deals !!

Wednesday 3/18

Today, we drove to Utah

With bright sunny skies, it was a beautiful day for traveling.

This evening we attended Sydney's elementary school play

This year they performed Beauty and the Beast Jr. 

Kevin & Lani's daughter, 6th grade, played one of the girls that love Gaston.

She played the part well and we loved watching her and her two friends "swoon" over the handsome Gaston.

Today is Connor's 17th birthday so . . .

After the play, we all went out to Apollo Burgers for a Birthday Dinner

Thursday 3/19

Today was our day for "visiting". 

We spent some time, just hanging out, with Debbi and her "kids", Mavis, Snowball, and Bandit. After a visit with Steve's sister, Glenda, we watched some March Madness then drove back up to Bountiful to spend the evening with Kevin and his family.

We enjoyed our visit with Glenda. She has a nice room in Sagewood at Daybreak in South Jordan. Next week she will have a birthday and turn 90 years old. It was good to see her and laugh with her for a little while.

Yesterday was Connor's 17th birthday, but after our dinner at Apollo Burgers last night, it was late and the kids needed to get to bed, sooo . . . .

Tonight, we had Connor's birthday cake . . . Strawberry Cheesecake and Ice Cream. He blew out a candle then dished up, and enjoyed, his birthday cake!!

Friday 3/20

Today, was another beautiful day to travel. We left Bountiful around 9:30 and arrived home (after stopping for gas and a car wash) at 3:30.

Today is the first day of Spring. When we arrived home, there had been some significant growth during the three days we were gone. Isn't it amazing how much difference some sunny, warm weather makes? From tiny little buds to beautiful green leaves and from one tiny pink plum blossom to a tree full. We love Spring !!

Saturday 3/21

Tonight was our Ward's 2nd Annual Paper Football tournament.

We had a smaller turnout  this year, probably because this is the beginning of Spring Break, but we still managed to have fun. Everyone brought their favorite game-day treat to share. We had four teams then the winners played for the championship... Linda got 2nd place!

Tuesday 3/24

Yesterday and today we have been working on setting up our back patio.

Last Fall, when we had our house painted, we had to remove all the wall décor. We just left it in storage until now.  Linda marked the walls where she wanted the décor and Steve took care of hanging everything up. We decided to move the bug-zapper from the corner by the clock to the wall next to the barbeque so it will be further away from where people sit. We set up the fountain then Linda cleaned it up and hot-glued the birds in place. Steve filled it with water, we turned it on, and . . . it worked, YaY !!

Wednesday 3/25

Yesterday, we went to our friend, Gail Glasgow's, house where he showed us all his 3D printing equipment and how it all works. He was just starting to print some doves for an Easter display at the church.

Today, he brought two of the doves over to show us. One of the doves was just as it looked when it finished printing. The other dove was after Gail had trimmed off all of the excess support filaments and was ready to be displayed. This truly is an intriguing process and looks like it could be a fun hobby.

Thursday 3/26

We love attending the temple each week on Thursday. Today, it was fun to see (and sit with) Marilyn in our session . . .  It's nice when we end up together!

Today, the flower beds were filled with beautiful spring colors. Hyacinths, a variety of daffodils, and tulips. The flowering pear trees (?) were in full bloom too.

Friday 3/27

For the next two days, our Stake is presenting "A Walk Through Holy Week" at the Floating Feather Chapel here in Star. We went through it this evening. It actually began with Palm Sunday then progressed through the week leading up to Easter Sunday. We did it last year and were so impressed we didn't want to miss it this year.

Each ward decorated one of the rooms or had a booth in the cultural hall "Marketplace". A lot of the rooms were the same as last year, but had added a few additional props. 

Our ward did the "Cleansing the Temple" room.  Here are the two doves our friend did on his 3D printer... they were a fun addition to last years décor. 

The Gethsemane room was new this year and was beautifully done. The empty tomb was also new and very special.

The cultural hall was once again transformed into a Jerusalem Marketplace.

Along with several others, there was a "food sampler" booth that had grapes, dates, unleavened bread and some kind of meat. One booth was making wooden things like dreidels with directions on how to play the game. Our friend, Blu, was throwing clay on a potters wheel. Just before leaving the "Marketplace" was a beautiful display depicting each day of the Holy Week. The "walk" was, once again, a wonderful experience.

Tuesday 3/31

Over the last couple of days, Linda has been giving one of our wall decorations a new look! The decoration is one we found in a tote the end of January. It is one Linda's sister, Karen, made for us back in 1991. The colors have faded and our house colors are different now, sooo....

Linda dug out her paints, then using a picture of the "original", she began taping the windows, doors, and trim work. She would paint one color then blow-dry it (to speed up the process) and move on to the next coat or a new color. She thought the blue heart would be cute, but in the end she changed her mind and repainted it Yellow! She did the lettering with a paint-pen then sprayed it with a sealer. This was a perfect and fun end-of-the-month project for her !!

And speaking of the end-of-the-month, it is here and time to move on.... Hello April !!
