Saturday 9/11
Patriot Day, on September 11th, honors the memory of the nearly 3,000 innocent victims who died in the 2001 terrorist attacks. Each year Americans dedicate this day to remembering those who died and the first responders who risked their own lives to save others.
A set of coordinated suicide attacks, organized by the militant group Al Qaeda, attacked the United States of America when they flew two planes, one into each of the Twin Towers (which collapsed), a third plane crashed into the Pentagon and yet another crashed into a field in Shanksville, PA.
Our country has never before or since been as united as it was at that time. Our
race, political affiliation, gender or social status didn’t matter… we were all
one… all Americans!
Saturday 9/18
- - CANNERY - -
Today our Stake had a special cannery assignment. They needed a total of 30 volunteers from 10 wards. That doesn't seem like it would be too hard to accomplish, but this morning we looked and there were only 12 people signed up.
So, we signed up and went to the Cannery!
They are still doing peaches . . . .
Linda worked on "cans", keeping them flowing to the packing area. We only actually worked on peaches for about an hour and a half then we began the "clean-up" process.
Boy are peaches messy!
Saturday 9/25
It's the end of September and we are beginning to see . . . .
evidence of the Fall season with brightly colored Autumn leaves.
This evening we went out on Matt's boat
Black Canyon Reservoir is just a short drive from our house and Boise so Matt goes out several times a week after work.
His boat creates a nice "curl" for surfing.
Steve was in charge of the rope. He tossed it to the surfer in the water who used it to "get up". Once up, the surfer flings the rope into the back of the boat where Steve gathered it up and got it ready to go again.
Linda was in charge of the "surfer down" warning flag. The flag goes up whenever a surfer goes down. It's a signal to the other boaters to watch for the downed person.
Matt & Calvin took turns driving the boat for each other.
Both Matt and his friend, Calvin, love surfing and are getting really good at it.

despite the very cold water (sometimes wearing wet suits), they manage to have fun when they are surfing and . . . .
when they crash and burn!
The scenery on the lake is beautiful in the evening especially as the sun is setting.
As dusk falls upon the lake, it signals the boaters to finish up their day and return to the dock where they load the boat on to its trailer and head for home.
Wednesday 9/29
Well . . . . guess you are never too old to have a sleep-over at grandma & grandpa's house !
Glad to have Camrynn spend a couple of days with us... love you!
September was not too exciting but we enjoy sharing these few things with each of you. Fall is in the air and the trees are once again becoming one of Mother Nature's beautiful paintings. We hope everyone has a busy October as we all prepare for the holiday season that is just around the corner. Love to all !
