Just to "recap"
Our January began with Linda's mother's funeral.
It was a beautiful service and an
amazing time to be with all of our family.

Sunday 1/5
Most of the day today was spent running
family back and forth to the
airport. Trudi left early and was on the same
flight as her cousin, Kyle, who was upgraded to
first class due to his many hours of flying, especially
for the company he works for. When they got on the
plane he gave his seat to Trudi and he took
her coach seat.... Trudi was so surprised and
we were grateful for his thoughtfulness.
Before Matt, Kevin & Debbi left they all helped
us load up our car, which ended up being
VERY FULL, but we got everything in
and safely back home.
Another Davis cousin, Chad, had a coach seat on the
same flight as Matt, Kevin & Debbi who all were
flying stand-by, they ended up with seats in Comfort+.
Debbi pulled out her employee tag and was able
to finagle a seat in the same comfort+ row as
the rest of our kids... fun times .... Cousins helping cousins!
By Sunday evening everyone except us and
a few of the Davis Family were
all home safely.
(the rest of the Davis's flew home Tuesday morning)
We left for home today. There is A LOT of scenery
to see on a ten-hour drive back to Kevin's in Bountiful
... Some of it very beautiful.

Once we arrived at Kevin's, Debbi met us there
and we were able to show the kids
(and Lani) the things from mom. . . .
we must have been tired because we didn't get any
pictures of this fun activity.
After lots of hugs,
we left for home early this morning.
It was another beautiful day that we managed
to squeeze in between two storms.
We had a nice trip home and when we arrived,
early afternoon, all was well.
All our Christmas Decorations were still in
place and just waiting for us to
begin our celebration.
Christmas Tree . . . . still standing and still
with gifts underneath
Knick-Knacks, bamboo basket, musical nativity and
Matt's favorite . . . . Old Tools.
The long wooden "thing" turned out to be an
old vegetable slicer from the 1800's. It must have
belonged to one of his great, great grandparents because
the date stamped on the back was before his
Great Grandparents were born.
Quite the treasure, wish we knew the story behind it
and who it actually belonged to.
Next we had our long over-due Christmas dinner . . . .
the very non-traditional "Chicken Enchiladas"
and lots of other yummy stuff !

Once dinner was done and cleaned up
we moved on to opening Christmas Gifts !
We finished out the month with this beautiful Sunset
How can anyone ever get tired of
seeing beautiful sunsets?

Monday 1/6

Wednesday 1/8
Today I was able to muster up enough energy
to get our New Year's Letter
mailed out.
It went like this . . . .
You have probably noticed that we
are late sending our letter out this year.
We have been in Southern California
for the last
Three weeks with Linda’s mother who
passed away on December 28th
Just 15 days after her 93rd
birthday.
We had her funeral yesterday,
Saturday, January 4th.
We are finally back home and able
to now have our Christmas and
Share our New Year’s letter with
all of you,
our family and friends.
Friday 1/10
It took a few days of rest before we were
ready to unpack all our memorabilia.
But once we did . . . .
we had fun filling the Curio and thinking
of days gone by.
Now it's pretty well filled up with
knick-knacks from GiGi (Linda's mother's mom),
Linda's Mom and Us !
Sunday 1/12
Today we have made plans to have our
Christmas with Matt's family so
it was appropriate that we woke up to
a little skiff of snow!
After church (and a little nap) they all came
out and we began our Christmas Celebration.
First, Matt unwrapped the memento's he
brought from Mom.
Showing off the pictures that used to hang in
grandma's hallway. . . . she had kept all of them, putting
one on top of the other over the years.
Some of them were pretty funny looking !
Matt, LOVED his egg steamer . . . .
his "girls" were not so sure about that one.

This year's theme . . . . "Precious Moments"
Jen's Amazon Gift card was also a fun surprise.
Sienna is into Lilo & Stitch right now, so . . . .
Fun figurines, a Stitch necklace and a
color changing table light for her room, complete
with remote control and bonus mini light.
All Jetta asked for was "LED strip lights" for her bedroom
so she was excited to get them. But there
was even more excitement when she opened a
gift card from Costa Vida and a Water Bottle filled with
candy, goodies and CASH !
As you can see from the rare "smile for a picture" on
Matt's face, he liked his Cabela's Gift card !
We missed having Camrynn with us tonight, but she
was scheduled to work, so we celebrated
with her next week !
Our gifts from the M. Waite's were lots of fun too.
from "family" plaques to Yard Decor, Socks an
offer for a meal at McDonalds (where Jetta is working now)
and a fun Places-you-have-been Map.
We still hadn't opened the gifts from the Lansford family
so that was next on the agenda.
A vibrating neck puppy, ornaments, Frozen shower set,
a beautiful "Family" music box and a
TEXAS recipe book that got lots of laughs !
Thursday 1/16

It wasn't until today that we were able to get
together with her so
we went out for our Christmas
dinner with her. We forgot to take
pictures . . . can't believe that !
We went to Panera's for Lunch and it was delicious
We also let her unwrap her
Christmas gifts from us.
Now that she is an "adult" (18 years old),
she got the "adult" version of gifts. . . .
A Waite Family Calendar & Amazon Gift Card.
We think, both gifts added a little
excitement to her day !
We received this beautiful piece of artwork
from her that she painted just for us.
(she said Sienna helped too, with the colors)
We love it and have found a place in our living room
to display it. It is so true . . . . There are days when this is
all we have . . . . walking by faith !
Other January Days
Since returning home from California we have been
busy catching up on doctor appointments
that had to be changed due to our change in plans
over the holidays.
On the 14th Linda went to, yet another, ENT
(otolaryngologist)
to have her Myoclonus condition evaluated. . . . again.
(the problem she has with her ears and voice)
The doctor put her on the medication,
Diazepam (Valium) 5 mg.
She was to take one tablet every 6 hours for
two weeks then take one tablet as needed.
She took the medication as prescribed for one week
then called the doctor to ask if she could cut the
pills in half.
She was sleeping all the time and experiencing
severe vertigo when awake.
The doctor approved her to do whatever she
thought she needed to do.
So for a few days she tried 1/2 tab but soon
decided to reduce it to 1/4 of a tab. . .
(so 1.25 mg)
The two weeks have passed and she is now taking
1/4 tab, only when she has an episode. . . .
which is turning out to be only once every couple of days.
(this is good!)
The medication stays in your system for
a while so until she gets more stable she is using
a cane for walking outside the house.
BTW - she hates it !
but it is nice not to have daily episodes !
Steve has been to see an Allergist who has
determined he doesn't have any allergies of any
significance.
Particularly no apparent
allergy to peaches . . . . YaY.
(Still, the doctor said not to try one until he is
in the office with the doctor standing by)
More appointments to come in February
