Tuesday 6/4

On Saturday we planted some petunias around
our front yard tree.

"they" say, you shouldn't cut back your tulips until
they die off so today Steve is tying the
dying leaves in knots
(someone suggested we braid them, lol)
so that the petunias can be seen.
 They are very colorful
and will look beautiful this summer.

Saturday 6/8

Every year we talk about converting our garden spot
into more flower beds & grass and this year
was no exception . . . . however . . . .

as you can see, that plan got put aside once again

and Steve planted some

Cucumber, pumpkin, watermelon & cantaloupe plants

(they will completely fill the garden plot)

. . . . maybe next year . . . .

Sunday 6/9

The cruise is getting closer all the time.

Only 28 days now.

Today Linda folded all the luggage tags

and put them in special pouches

designed for Carnival Cruise tags.

The tags are automatically printed

at the same time we printed out all the

boarding passes.

1st . . . . fold it lengthwise

2nd . . . . fold it crosswise

3rd . . . . insert in plastic pouch & zip seal

4th . . . . attach steel barrel closure ring

5th . . . . Voila!

20 tags , Ready to Cruise !

Monday 6/10

Today we decided to change the plants in our
lamp post planter.  The first ones were
all dying.  Steve ran a couple of irrigation drip
lines up into the planter and then . . . .

planted these new, trailing plants.

We also tried to salvage a couple of the first
plants, we'll see how they do.
We replaced the dirt with some good
potting soil.

Tuesday 6/11

Last night we decided to take a little
Trip to


Sun Valley, Idaho

We followed the Idaho Hwy 75

Scenic Byway and enjoyed the beauty

of Heavenly Father's creations.

 We saw some free-range livestock like these sheep and

Snow-capped mountains beyond lush green valleys.

We got a quick glimpse of the fast moving 

Big Wood river and . . . .

We stopped at some Historical Markers like this

one about the Sawtooth Scenic Byway and

the Sun Valley Resort. 

There were beautiful Rock formations and . . . .

outcroppings all along the way.

and yes . . . . bridge construction!

As we got closer to our destination the

snow-capped mountains got closer too !

We are staying at the Best Western in Ketchum
where we have . . . .


a beautiful mountain view room.

Tonight we ate at

The Burger Grill in Ketchum.
Great Burger and a Fish & Chips basket at
reasonable prices.

After dinner and another drive around
the area we . . . .

spent some time in the hotel's hot tub.

first in the warm calm water then . . . .

with the foaming jets running.

It was quite relaxing, and . . . . therapeutic ! 

Wednesday 6/12

We had a very nice breakfast at the hotel then

packed up and were on the road by 9:00.

We decided to continue on the scenic route 75

to Stanley.  It was a four hour drive

but we, once again, saw some beautiful country.

This afternoon these four couples

both are good excuses for a siblings get-together !

Sunday 6/16

After a nice morning at church we left for mom's, so . . . .

Steve spent his birthday & Father's day in the

Boise, Salt Lake & Ontario airports

Monday 6/17

We arrived at mom's last night and this morning

we looked out the window to see . . . .

This beautiful Jacaranda tree.

They are in bloom all around town.

Tuesday 6/18

This morning we drove out to Home Depot and

bought a couple of new hanging plants for

mom's front porch.

(new plants always perk her up)

When we returned from the store we noticed lots

of buds on the gardenia plant.

This afternoon one of the buds opened up . . . .

boy does it smell g o o d !!

Wednesday 6/19

This morning Linda and her mom went to the

Dollar Tree and . . . .

bought some

artificial spring flowers.

They took away all the fall colors and . . . .

replaced them with these spring/summer bouquets.

Thursday 6/20

We bought mom a couple of small Jig-Saw puzzles

today and she decided to get one out.

Friday 6/21

Yesterday a puzzle, today . . . .

 this sunflower stone turned out so cute!

It even has glitter covering the yellow center.

Saturday 6/22

This afternoon we went for a drive around town

Our old house on Rancho Corona Drive . . . .

We planted all those trees 39 years ago.

The Gardenia's keep on blooming

(as of Sunday there were 15 new blossoms)

We were able to attend church with mom

this morning.

Love her !

Tuesday 6/25

We've been waiting all week for this beautiful

Yellow Hibiscus to open up and finally . . . .  

On our last day at mom's it opened up.

Wednesday 6/26

Today we left for home at 4:30 a.m.

It didn't go well.  We ended up

having to fly into SLC on a delayed flight

from Ontario and didn't arrive until 12:45.

We made arrangements with Debbi to use her car

and stay in her apartment.

(it was very comfortable . . . . thanks Deb)

By the time we got out of the airport, caught

the shuttle to the employee parking lot and

drove to her apartment it was

1:30 a.m.  We crawled into be at 2:00 then got

up at 6:00 to catch the first flight to Boise.

This is the result of two very short nights !

Sunday 6/30

Tonight we attended a Stake meeting for what

the Stake Presidency described as

boundary and leadership adjustments.

They created three new Wards and realigned

the boundaries of all the existing Wards.

We now have eleven Wards in our 

relatively young Star Stake. 

Another month comes to an end and the

this year of 2019 is now half gone.

July is going to be exciting !
