Tuesday 10/30
Today we flew down to Southern California
to visit mom for a week
Thursday 11/1
Mom had a good day today and
we were able to keep pretty busy.
Our day ended with Mother Nature painting a ....
beautiful sunset for us.
We love watching old movies together
Jimmy Stewart, June Allyson,
Mickey Rooney & Judy Garland
are some of our favorites.
Our "main" project today was to paint mom's
bird bath. she has wanted to do it
for quite some time now, but we always
forget until it's too late to get started.
Karen had primed it a while back so that
part was already done and saved a
lot of time for us.
Steve brushed the loose dirt & debris
off and then ....
began painting ....
and painting ....
and painting .... even mom got into the act
(just long enough to take this picture)
Next we painted the "stem" part of the bird bath ....
and the base.
Steve put the pieces in their proper places and ....
Ta Da .... it's done !!
Mom really likes it and it sure brightens
up this corner of the yard.
We added one more thing to it ....
a baby ...
after giving her a new coat of baby pink paint,
blue eyes and pink lips we set her
in place and she is looking pretty cute !
Linda is showing her mother how to take a selfie.
Linda held the phone/camera while her
mom snapped the picture .... she was amazed !
Friday 11/2
Today we went shopping at Home Depot
for a couple of plants to put by the
bird bath.
Not sure what they are called or if they will
grow in this barren corner but they
look nice for now and if they don't survive we
will look for something else to try!
Saturday 11/3
Today we worked on brightening up the
fountain corner of mom's front porch.
We did it while mom was in Victorville for
the blessing of Karen's new grand-baby, Jaden,
and .... in that same family,
the baptism of their 8 year old son, Jaxon.
She was very pleasantly surprised when she returned
and saw what we had done for her.
Thursday 11/8
The work at Matt's house is coming along
today Steve went in to help while Linda stayed
home for a doctor's appointment
(routine annual visit)
they installed the kitchen floor and ....
now the refrigerator doesn't fit so Matt is
taking out the center cabinet and will probably
just put drywall up in it's place.
They hope to have carpet in a couple of weeks!
Matt & Steve began siding the shop ....
up one side, then ....
the other side of the garage door.
there is still a long way to go, but it was
good to get started. The sides should go much
faster than today since the boards won't have
to be cut, just leveled and nailed in place.
Friday 11/9
This morning Sienna participated in a
Veteran's Day Program
at her Elementary School
(Sienna, center-Red/White stripe shirt)
It was just 4th & 5th grade (Sienna in 5th)
They sang patriotic songs and
had some readings in between them.
It was a very nice tribute to our Veteran's
and the kids did great !
Monday 11/12
Tonight we went to a piano concert performed
by a member of our Ward.
Jeff Romero performed two pieces
Beethoven's Sonata no. 3 in C Major and
Rachmaninoff's Variations on a theme of Corelli
He is a very gifted pianist !
Tuesday 11/20
Today we drove over to the site where our
new church building will be.
They have just begun excavating. We are not sure
but we hope this is going to be our new
Stake Center. Right now we are
"borrowing" one from Eagle Stake.
Wednesday 11/21
Today we helped Jen with some yard work
Trimming along with leaf raking/blowing.
We also went to Lowe's with her for
more trim boards.
I started another puzzle when we returned
from California ....
Today I finished it !!
Thursday 11/22
Thanksgiving Day
AND
Crew's 8th Birthday !
Camrynn has to go to work this afternoon
so we all decided to start a new
tradition ....
Breakfast at Denny's
Tonight Matt's family (except Cam's) came
out to our house and we had an
amazing Thanksgiving dinner ....
turkey, stuffing, potatoes/gravy, sweet potatoes
and much, much more.
After we ate and cleaned up Jetta and Sienna
had prepared a game for us to play ...
Thanksgiving Jeopardy !
Shortly after the game playing
we had our dessert ....
PIES
Apple, Pumpkin & Berry with
whipped cream & ice cream toppings
We are grateful for this special time of
year that reminds us of all the
blessings we receive from our Heavenly Father.
Monday 11/26
Last night Debbi arrived and will stay with
us for a couple of days.
Our goal while she is here is to
complete the Christmas Advent Calendar
she started a few days ago.
She had everything cut out and all
the little pieces organized ...
Now it's time to begin assembling !
Both Linda and Debbi took turns sewing
the tree and ....
The pockets
But before they did that they had to sew all
the numbers on the pockets.
After that they sewed all the
buttons and trim while
Steve cut the dowel to length
and then drilled a hole in each end.
Now for the ornaments.
The directions said to glue the pieces together and
add a ribbon loop for hanging but ....
In true Waite fashion ....
we decided to jazz them up a bit so we dug
around and found sequins, beads, pom poms, jewels
and embroidery thread.
In the end, each ornament took about an hour
to assemble. (some took longer than others)
With two people working on them
they could do two in an hour.
But didn't they turn out cute !
Finally, after two full days of sewing,
the pockets are filled and this
cute advent calendar is ready for
December to arrive.
about 50 years ago Linda made a similar
advent calendar that our kids
enjoyed every Christmas.
Now Debbi will have one of her own
that will bring many years of
enjoyment in her home.
It was a LOT of work, but
we had so much fun putting this
calendar together .... thanks Debbi for
letting us help !
Wednesday 11/28
Christmas is just around the corner so ....
Today Steve put up some of our outdoor
Christmas lights ... so festive !
We still have some blow-ups that we might
put out next week...we'll see !
Friday 11/30
Today we drove to Bountiful for
Crew's Baptism tomorrow.
We encountered ....
Partly sunny skies ....
Snow, Fog ...

and rain ...
we arrived safely at Kevin's house around 4:00.
It seems like we were just saying ...
"I can't believe October has come and gone"
Now here it is the end of
November and now it's on to December,
and the last few days of 2018.
