Tuesday 6/5
Today we decided to drive down to Lowell Lake
which is southwest of Boise.
We had never taken the time to go see it before.
It took us a few tries to find the "Park" area
but we finally made it.
We wandered across the large grassy area, dodging
the sprinklers that were running, to find
a small swimming beach and ....
beautiful shady shoreline scenes
having never been there before we're not sure if
the trees are always in the water or ....
if the lake is just really high right now.
This is a very large lake.
It is not up in the mountains but is still surrounded
by lots of trees.
This is a man-made lake initially built in the
early 1900's to provide irrigation water.
Dams and a canal system were constructed
to channel water into the reservoir.
Today the lake serves as an irrigation source,
recreation area & wildlife refuge.
On our way home from the lake we
stopped at Hobby Lobby and purchased
some decor items.
We have this cute ceramic stagecoach set that
was hand made in a shop that Linda's
dad owned in Laguna Beach California
back in the 1950's.
We decided to get some "western" decor to
go with it!
Tonight Sienna (Matt's youngest daughter)
had a "daddy-daughter" activity called
Staches & Lashes.
Since her daddy had to work she invited her
grandpa to join her.
Saturday 6/9 - Saturday 6/16
Today Linda left for Norco, California where
her mom lives. She will
help care for her mom while
she is there.
Here are some pictures from her trip.

all around town.
Mom decorated, Hawaiian style, for her
weekly FHE group of single senior sisters.
This is the house Linda lived in after she
graduated from High school and where
she was living when we got married.
It doesn't look anything like it did when she
lived there...it has been totally remodeled.
This fire broke out Tuesday afternoon.
Fortunately it is quite a ways from Linda's
mom's house.
This was once the beautiful home that
Linda's parents lived in and the house
our kids remember visiting.
It is very sad to see it all boarded up
and in such awful disrepair.
This was the house Linda's grandparents
lived in. It is right next door to
her parents house (the one that is now
all boarded up). It is looking very
run-down also. Both homes were
always so beautiful now they are quite
the eyesores....so sad.

Linda's mom wanted some color in her
pretty white valences so Linda
ran a burgundy ribbon along the
curtain rod for her...just the right touch!
Tara, one of moms many great grandchildren,
graduated from High School this week.
Mom bought this little Fairy Garden....
It looks very cute in her flowerbed.
The last day of Linda's visit.
Mom looks pretty darn good for 91 years old.
Thursday 6/14
Today Steve went up to the Parker's Cabin
in Cascade, Idaho.
The new railing looks great ....
now they just need some stairs !
They are making progress with the construction
on the back side of the cabin.

Monday 6/18
Today we noticed a new addition to our
backyard patio ....
First we noticed some debris around
the gutter downspout ....
So we looked up and saw a pretty large nest
that wasn't there yesterday!
There weren't any birds around so this evening
Steve checked it out, then removed it.
Tuesday 6/19
This afternoon we went to Big Lots and
found some .....
Fairy Garden pieces of our own
After surveying everything ....
Linda tried several different ways
to set them up ....
And finally settled on this one ...
(hmmm, looks like it needs some plants around it
and maybe a fairy swing)
Next Steve drilled a hole and ....
Screwed this little chipmunk onto our
little birdhouse
(that the birds never use)
Friday 6/22
Today Steve worked on a project in the backyard.
We have this rogue piece of grass
that we don't like so today
Steve replaced it.
(there are other spots so this is a test)
Last week he treated it with some Round-up
which made digging it up a lot easier.
the spot is about 3' square .... but it seemed
a LOT BIGGER.
Once the old grass was out he brought the
hole up to level with some new dirt
he got for Father's Day (hahaha)
After watering down the dirt
he set the new pieces in place
Despite his careful calculations and cutting
the new sod, there were still edges that
needed to be filled in.
Now we will just give it lots of water and
see what happens.
Saturday 6/23
Some of our garden statuary is getting pretty
weather warn so today Linda decided
to do a few makeovers
Linda painted this stone a few years ago
but today she decided to repaint it.
These yellow & orange flowers are
much "happier"... don't you think?
Next our little frog got a new green coat and ....
the last project took the most time ....
just about all the paint had worn off
this cute little girl. It took several hours
to repaint her.
After her "makeover" she got sprayed
with a heavy coat of sealer and .....
then set back in her place under the gum tree.
While Linda was busy painting ....
Steve planted some new flowers in and around
the pansies we planted a couple
of weeks ago. They haven't done very well
and we needed to fill in the holes.
Monday, 6/25
After Linda finished all her painting on
Saturday and had everything
cleaned up and put away we remembered
there was one more thing we wanted to paint.
So today she got her paint stuff out and
worked on this backyard fountain.
She painted the leaf green and the spout
brown (they were both the same light yellow
color as the inside of the log).
Linda also did some dry-brush color on
the inside of the log.
We are very excited ....
The Clematis we planted (for the 3rd time)
is doing well and today ....
It had its first blossom .... YAY !
(the saying "3rd times a charm" must be true)
Our Hostas are also blooming and doing well.
This Lily has opened up and is looking beautiful !
Thursday 6/28
When we began using our AC this year we were
getting quite a bit of water coming through
the overflow pipe (into the garage...ugh)
So today we had someone come out to fix it.
The condensation line had an
partial obstruction in it ....
We are hopeful flushing it out and then
vacuuming it from the outside
will do the trick !
Update:
It did not work ... Freon is leaking ...
Coils need to be repaired ....
Sounds expensive - ugh
June has flown by but we have accomplished
a lot...especially outside in our yard.
Our tomatoes are beginning to ripen and
they taste delicious!
