Days 3-4

Tuesday, October 29

Day 3

 "day at sea"

We began our day watching the 

sun rise from our balcony

It was a very windy day with gusts up to 30 mph

We braved the winds for a little bit and

went for a dip in one of the hot tubs but

decided we'd spend most of our time indoors.

 The main loby was bright with lights & glitz.

There were several glass elevators seen

here in the background.

We were grateful for the signs that were posted

on every deck with diagrams of the ship.

Our cabin was on the Empress Deck (7)

way.....

down this hall.

This evening was designated as

"Elegant" night.

So we got all dressed up for the evenings festivities!

There were Photo Opps all up and down the 

corridors of the ship

and we had several pictures taken during

the evening

But this is the one we ended up purchasing.

We met and had our picture taken with the 

Captain of our ship

Rosario Arena

We also dropped by the Art Gallery and visited

with the Director, 

Val - from South Africa,

whom we met at our hotel in Ft. Lauderdale

We went to the "Punch Line Comedy Club"

before dinner to see

Louis Johnson's "Family Friendly" show.

After the show we went to dinner...

Steve had Lobster Tail and

I had Prime Rib...all VERY tasty!

Before leaving the restaurant we had our picture

taken with our head waiter, "J"

At 10:30 we attended a show...

"Ticket to Ride"

A musical tribute to the Beatles with lots

of singing and dancing.

It was very well done and so much fun

Back in our Cabin we found this cute little 

towel monkey

just "Hangin' Around"

Wednesday, October 30

Day 4

George Town, Grand Cayman

We arrived in Grand Cayman at 7 a.m.

it was cloudy and wet but warm.

We were joined by another cruise ship

At this port we had to "Tender" on small boats

to the island.

each boat carried about 200 passengers

We learned that part of the reason

the ships tender is because if they actually docked

they would have to close the on-board

Casino's...No gambling allowed

on the Cayman islands.

Off the boat and on to the Island we now have....

6 hours to see the Island!

But first a picture from the dock and...

Welcome to the Cayman Islands!

The tour we wanted was cancelled for the day

because of the wind sooo....

 we found a tour

with Karl Lopez, a man from Belize

whose family has this tour business.

He was very nice and quite laid back and relaxed 

about staying "on schedule".

On our way up the highway we were stopped 

at the Governor's mansion...

the Governor's car, with her riding in the front seat,

was leaving the residence and drove past 

while waving at us as she went by.

Our first stop was a little cove. 

We walked out over the water on an

old boardwalk and saw some...

out-of-the-water coral with 

"sea sucks" embedded in the coral

(they looked like cockroaches).

there was a little souvenir stand set up next to

the beach where we bought two small

marble figurines...a stingray and a dolphin

from here we went to the "City of Hell"

Yes that is actually the name of this little town

There was an amazing rock formation that looked

like lava rock, but it was actually

Black Limestone.

We noticed the gas prices and thought they were

pretty high.  Then we found out they

were imperial gallons and in Cayman currancy.

In american dollars it would be over $7.00 per gallon

Our next stop would be the Turtle Farm.

The turtles were huge and...

there were large Green Iguana's running

all over the place.

Since Steve got to hold the baby alligator

Linda got to hold the baby sea turtle.

It was flapping it's little flippers like crazy until

the man told her to rub it's neck....When she did

that it stopped flapping and got very still.

Across the street from the Turtle Farm

was the Dolphin Discovery

We only got to stay a few minutes, but it was

fun to see the people

actually swimming with the Dolphins

(Maybe we will try that next time!)

At the Rum shop we passed up on the

rum cake, but were able

to enjoy the beautiful scenery from the patio.

We traveled back to the pier at the Islands 

maximum speed of a whopping 40 mph

while driving on the, totally wrong side of the road!

(they are under British rule and drive 

on the left side of the road just like they do in Britain)

We Tendered back to the ship in time to enjoy a 

nice buffet luncheon.

We had a quiet evening and after dinner we

returned to our Cabin to find....

it had been invaded by DINOSAURS!

(well, only one really)

Only two more days left on our cruise....

what kind of adventures are yet to come!
